Directory of British Self Help Groups and Support Organisations

The G-Text Directory of British Self Help Groups and Support Organisations is well established as an invaluable reference source. The directory contains comprehensive and up-to-date details of over 820 British national and self-help support groups who provide advice on over 750 medical conditions and needs. Updated annually, the guide is widely used by health care professionals, social workers, citizens advice bureaux, the churches and pastoral and SEN staff in junior and secondary schools throughout the country.

The directory was developed in response to the apparent lack of an up-to-date and comprehensive listing and is dedicated to the people running these groups doing tremendous work in providing links between members and keeping them abreast of the very latest research and treatment, passing on practical tips and helping their members towards a better quality of life.

It features groups covering many rare and unusual complaints but also many common ones as well - acne, alcoholism, allergy, arthritis, asthma, back pain, bed-wetting to name just a few. In addition to groups covering medical conditions there are groups who help with mental problems, phobias, financial problems, adoption, victims of accidents, crime, gifted children, children with special needs etc.
